LIBRARY
The Library at Beaumont School is a resource which supports the whole school community, providing fiction books, magazines, DVDs, newspapers and audio books. There is an extensive non-fiction collection covering all areas of the curriculum including a reference section and a comprehensive archive of relevant newspaper articles. There are networked computers for use by both lower school pupils and sixth form. A special collection of information on careers and further study is also available.
The library is open during break, lunchtimes and after school enabling access to extracurricular activities such as chess and reading clubs. A comfortable reading area is provided for students to relax and enjoy their books. There are regular author visits with related activities and events to encourage a love of reading.
Under the guidance of a chartered librarian and assistant, pupils are encouraged to develop their own interest in books and independent learning. Classes frequently visit the library for topic research using both computers and books. All Year 7 students are given an introduction to the library to ensure they are able to make full and effective use of the facilities available.
