Beaumont School, St Albans, Hertfordshire

FOREWORD

“Students’ personal development and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development are outstanding features of the school.” (Ofsted Report 2008 - full report available here)

Beaumont school is a thriving community where we aim to equip our young people to be able to make a significant contribution to the building of a more tolerant and understanding society both during their school career, and in their future lives.

Our school aims focus on providing our young people with an outstanding education enabling them to take their place within and make valuable contributions to the diverse, expanding world to which they belong. We take our role in equipping our pupils to live and thrive alongside people from many different backgrounds seriously and work toward this on a number of levels:

  • Through our work within the school as a school community
  • In our links with the local community in which we are based
  • In our wider community both nationally and internationally
  • In our collaborative working with other schools

At all levels there are three main ways in which we deliver an education which meets this objective:

  • Through our broad and balanced curriculum which helps pupils learn to understand others, value diversity, subscribe to  shared values, to be aware of and apply and defend human rights, and to develop the skills of participation and responsible action
  • By ensuring equal opportunities for all pupils to access the full range of opportunities to learn and engage in other activities
  • By building two-way links between members of the school community and the outside world enabling people from different backgrounds to interact and build positive relations

We take every opportunity to encourage our young people to see how they can both integrate into society, and learn from others.
