The Student Voice (School Council) is elected annually and makes an important contribution to the life of the school community. The Student Voice team is split into five committees.
These committees are
- Charities - including work with the Beaumont School Association, charity fundraising
- School Community – including the production of a school newspaper, peer mentoring, work on campaigns such as anti-bullying, meeting with local councillors and Community police officers
- Teaching and Learning – keeping learning diaries, feeding back to staff about classroom issues
- EcoSchools – contributing to developing the school’s initiatives on recycling, energy efficiency etc, inputting to a school Environmental Review and Action Plan, working towards the national Bronze, Silver and Green Flag awards
- Student Leadership Team
The committees meet regularly and report to all tutor groups, the Senior Leadership Team and governors. During recent years they have contributed to a review of lunchtime arrangements, uniform, school lunches, antibullying strategies, recycling and the equal opportunities policy relating to students. They have also contributed to the interview process for new staff, produced a student newspaper and organised signficant fundraising events.
The governors are closely involved in the continued development of Student Voice.
